Below is information about departments that have specific requirements and deadlines for entering their programs.
- Supplemental admission criteria is listed by department.
- Dates shown are for students entering UB in the spring or fall semester of 2012.
Accounting
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree holders should contact advisor before applying.
Application Deadline:
- March 1 for fall admissions; on a rolling basis thereafter.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 3.0 in prerequisite courses; 3.0 overall for the accounting major.
Architecture
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Departmental application required.
- Portfolio required for upper-level studio consideration. No portfolio required for first-year studio placement.
- Contact department for advisement.
- Highly competitive admission on a space-available basis.
Application Deadline:
- SUNY application Feb. 15.
- Departmental application and portfolio deadline (if required) Feb. 28.
- Contact department after these dates. No additional material reviewed after May 31.

Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 2.5 in architecture and architecture-related courses; 2.5 overall.
- Grades of B- or higher are required for major articulation.
Art, Art History (Visual Studies)
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Art: Acceptance to art foundation program on a space-available basis.
- University-accepted students with 5 or more transfer art courses must submit a CD portfolio; application required.

Application Deadline:
- Art: CD-ROM portfolio only. Submit between February and April 1. Communication design majors should contact advisor for personal appointment.

Minimum GPA for consideration:
- Art: Transfer art credit must have a B grade and overall GPA of 2.5.

Biochemistry
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Departmental application required.

Application Deadline:
- Departmental application due June 1; thereafter on a space-available basis.
- Submit SUNY application well in advance of this date.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
2.0 overall; minimum GPA of 3.0 in prerequisite courses.
Biomedical Sciences
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:

Application deadline:
Program application due Sept. 15 for spring admission and Feb. 15 for fall admission.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
3.0 in prerequisite courses; 2.0 overall. No grade less than a B in prerequisite courses.
Biotechnology
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:

Feb. 1 for fall admission. Submit SUNY application and transcripts well in advance of this date. Contact department after this date.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
2.5 in prerequisite courses; 2.0 overall.
Business Administration
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree holders should contact advisor before applying.
Application Deadline:
- Fall semester: Applications reviewed by March 1, and on a rolling basis thereafter.
- Spring semester: Oct. 1, and on a rolling basis thereafter.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 2.75 in prerequisite courses; 2.5 overall for the business major.
Engineering
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- No departmental application required.
- Completion of at least three of the following courses is required for admission: MTH 141, MTH 142, MTH 241, MTH 242, MTH 306, CHE 101, CHE 102, CHE 107, CHE 108, PHY 107, PHY 108.
Application Deadline:
None.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
2.5 in all previous major requirement courses in math, science and engineering.
Environmental Design
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Departmental application required.

Application Deadline:
- Department application submission dates are June 15 for fall admission consideration and Nov. 1 for spring admission consideration. Contact department for advisement after these dates.

Exercise Science
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Promotion to Professional Sequence (upper division) application required once student has enrolled in or completed all prerequisite courses; available at http://sphhp.buffalo.edu/ens/esbs/applying.php.

Application Deadline:
Promotion to Professional Sequence (upper division) application by the last academic day in January. Contact department after this date. SUNY application and transcripts well in advance of Jan. 31. 120 students selected each year.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 2.5 in prerequisite courses for general ES track.
- 3.0 in prerequisites for DPT track.
- 2.0 overall.
Media Study
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
Portfolio required. Contact department for instructions. You must be accepted to the university before your portfolio will be reviewed.
Application Deadline:
SUNY application Feb. 1; applications after this date considered on a space-available basis. Departmental application and portfolio deadlines: fall -- film, digital arts and video portfolios due by Aug. 15. Spring: portfolios due by Jan. 15. Contact department after these dates.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
2.5 in prerequisite courses; 2.0 overall.
Medical Technology
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
Application Deadline:
- Feb. 1 for fall admission. Submit SUNY application and all transcripts well in advance of this date.

Minimum GPA for consideration:
2.0 overall and in all prerequisite courses.
Music
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Complete two applications: File the SUNY application; and download a Department of Music application at www.music.buffalo.edu or contact the department for a copy.
- Audition required for music performance program.
- Transfer theory placement exam.
Application Deadline:
- Auditions held in November, January, February, March and April. Last audition for scholarships in March. Late auditions are held during the first week of classes each semester.

Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 2.5 in prerequisite courses; 2.0 overall.
- Grades of D do not fulfill major requirements.
Nuclear Medicine Technology
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Interview by invitation for those who complete all prerequisite courses prior to the start of fall semester.
- Phone interviews can be arranged for students who live a distance from the university.
- Contact program for advisement and additional information.
Application Deadline:
SUNY application, including transcripts, by Jan. 15. Contact department after this date.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 2.5 in prerequisite courses; 2.0 overall.
- Each prerequisite course must be completed with a grade of C or better.
Nursing
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
Application Deadline:
- Basic program: Complete application to UB by Feb. 1 and supplemental nursing application Feb. 1-28. Upper division nursing curriculum only begins in the fall.
- Accelerated BS (ABS) program: Must have previously earned a BA or BS in non-nursing field. Complete application to UB by Sept. 15 and nursing application between Aug. 15 and Oct. 1. 12-month program begins in May.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- Basic program: Application requires minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and completion of nearly all prerequisites, including anatomy and physiology. Complete all nursing prerequisites with grades of C or better. Admission is very competitive and offered on a space-available basis.
- ABS program: Application requires minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and completion of at least 4 prerequisites at the time of application, including anatomy and physiology. All prerequisites must be completed by May before starting the program. Admission is very competitive and offered on a space-available basis.

Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
Application Deadline:
- SUNY application Dec. 15.
- Rolling admission until capacity is reached.
- Promotion to Professional Sequence forms must be received by Jan. 15.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
3.0 in prerequisite courses; C overall. Promotion to professional component is competitive on a space-available basis for students with 2.80-2.99 GPA in prerequisites.
Pharmaceutical Sciences
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
Application Deadline:
March 15; thereafter on a space-available basis. Submit SUNY and department application well in advance of this date.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 2.5 in prerequisite science and math courses.
- Prospects for admission are better at 3.0 in prerequisite science and math courses. Limited enrollment.
Pharmacology and Toxicology
Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Contact advisor for additional information.
- Departmental application required.
Application Deadline:
- Departmental application due Feb. 15.
- Submit SUNY application well in advance of this date.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
2.5 in prerequisite courses; 2.0 overall.
Pharmacy Practice
- PharmD is a graduate/professional program.

Supplemental Admission Procedures/Requirements:
- Applicants lacking pre-pharmacy prerequisite courses must submit SUNY application.
- Applicants who have completed all of their pre-pharmacy prerequisites must apply through the central pharmacy application service (PharmCAS). Supplemental (department) applications must also be completed.
- Interviews are required and are available by invitation only.
- Undergraduate degree is not required.
Application Deadline:
- February 1 for PharmCAS.
- Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as application review begins well in advance of this date.
Minimum GPA for consideration:
- 3.0 in prerequisite science and math courses.
- Applicants who have earned baccalaureate degrees are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants should review the PharmCAS school information page on the school's website as well as the PharmD Admissions page, or contact the office of pre-pharmacy advisement in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to ascertain that the correct prerequisites have been completed.
Physical Therapy
